About the Southdown Sharks


Swimmers

  • Must be 5-18 years old
  • Must be able to swim 25 yards using any stroke without touching the sides or bottom of the pool. It does not have to be perfect!
  • Must be willing to have team spirit, try their best, and, most importantly, HAVE FUN!

Practices and Meets

  • All practices are held at Southdown Pool in the evenings while AACPS is in session and in the mornings after AACPS breaks for summer
  • Meets are held on Saturday mornings starting in mid-June with home meets at Southdown Pool and away meets local to Anne Arundel County (five dual meets and one championship weekend)
  • Championship meets are held in late July

Commitment

  • Registration fees ($135-$195) cover AAU swim insurance, team t-shirt, swim cap, Fun Friday activities, and expert coaching throughout the season
  • Team suits are not required, but will be available for try on and purchase during the first team meeting in May (and online). 
  • Parents must be willing to volunteer at swim meets and at other fun activities throughout the season. The only way meets and fun activities can be held is with parent volunteers!

The Southdown Pool is a small, privately owned and operated swim club situated in the Southdown Shores community off Route 2 in Edgewater, Maryland.
