Meet 3 Results & Year Round Swimming

Congrats on another great meet and a win for us! There were some really close races yesterday, and the competition will only get tougher. I have attached the results and the updated Medal Meet Qualifiers. Reminder that swimmers must have swam in 2 meets in order to be eligible to swim at Bronze, Silver, or Gold.
A huge shoutout to all the kids that swam in the Swim-A-Thon last night! Many kids swam over a mile!! A big congrats to Christian Bertram for swimming the most laps at 133 laps equating 3,325 yards which is over 2 miles.
With the holiday coming next weekend, our 4th meet against Walden (and final home meet where we will honor our graduating seniors) will be held on Wednesday evening. Warm-ups will be begin at 5:00pm. Please declare before Monday at noon. We have done a fantastic job volunteering so let’s keep it up for this last home meet!
There will be NO practice on Thursday and Friday this week. Our Fun Friday will become a Wonderful Wednesday this week and we will be tie-dyeing!! My favorite!! Many swimmers will dye their white Southdown shirts but feel free to bring any items you want to color!
This is also the time to think about year round opportunities for swimming. There are winter rec sessions through AACo Parks & Rec that are available come January that I will send more information about towards the end of the season. However, club swimming tryouts have already begun and are going to continue through the first couple weeks of July. I will link some websites below that have information about tryouts for each team. I have put them in order of recommendation for swimmers starting out year round. Club swimming can be competitive depending on the team so I will happily help prepare swimmers for tryouts that are willing and able. I started out at ASC when I was young and spent most of my life swimming and coaching with NAAC, with whom I still coach during the year. If you have questions about commitment level and experience then please reach out, I would love to see more Southdown Sharks in winter swimming!
