Bronze Results & Air Quality
Happy Friday Sharks!
I hope everyone is able to stay safe and healthy today in this smoky air. The league has made an announcement regarding our championship meets this weekend. At this time, the league has NO plans to cancel the meets on Saturday or Sunday based on the improved air quality forecasted for tomorrow. However, given the air quality alert, if you and/or your family is not comfortable being outside for an extended period of time then the league will be accepting scratches until 3pm today for Silver and 3pm tomorrow for Gold. In swimming, a scratch means official withdrawing from the meet. In these championship meets, if a swimmer misses an event then they will not be allowed to swim for the rest of the meet. Sensitive groups (including those with asthma, heart/lung disease, and older adults) should consider staying indoors. Please use your best judgement when bringing extra spectators, including very young children, elderly relatives, or any individuals sensitive to the poor air quality conditions to spectate at the meets. Make the choice that feels good for your family and please let me know before 3pm if your swimmer(s) decide not to attend so I can make any changes and communicate with the league.
In other news, I have attached the Bronze Meet results. My apologies that it is so delayed coming out. So many incredible swims and a huge thank you to all of the volunteers Wednesday night!!! It ran so smoothly, it was the quickest Bronze meet ever. Our 9-10 girls came in at 1st and 2nd in every event!! Libby Henn in 100 IM, Ida Young in 25 backstroke, and Maggie Synoracki in 25 free, 25 breast and 25 fly! If Maggie was first, then Libby or Ida were right there to get 2nd. Other first places include Madison Schwartz in 25 fly, Jackson Leon in 50 fly with a 6 second drop, June Gall in 25 free with a 6 second drop, and Libby Lunsway with a beautiful glide to win the 50 breast. There were incredible drops of time from Joey Wallander, Scarlett Schwartz, Addy Sterling, and Lucie Brown who both dropped 5 seconds in 25 free. Scarlett dropped another 8 seconds in 25 back, Libby Kiel dropped 6 seconds in 25 back, and Finn Lipscomb dropped 6 seconds in 50 breast.
Please reach out with any questions. See you all tomorrow, if not Sunday!
